I’m back with a new randomized Pokémon playthrough! I just couldn’t stay away, despite having planned to take a short break away from Pokémon and these sorts of blog posts for a bit!
That said, I am right at the beginning of Emerald currently. Randomizer settings are similar to the last round - and this time, I’ve saved my settings to a file, which you can download here if you care to use the same settings to produce a Randomized ROM.
Off the bat, Professor Birch greeted me and had an Ursaring with him as an introduction into the world of Pokémon.
Then, I chose the “Wicked Pokémon,” Shiftry to be my starter.
Finally, when seeing Wally catch his first Pokémon, it was none other than a Jumpluff! I’m not sure if the Randomizer settings I chose mean that Wally will carry a Jumpluff for the remainder of the game, but either way, it was neat.
Yes, this is shaping up to be a fun playthrough. Of the Pokémon I’ve caught so far, I like Shiftry and Lunatone best, but I’ve also always liked the idea of having a Seviper. Unfortunately, Seviper’s moveset is…pretty awful, at the moment. Though, it’s only level 4, so hopefully in the next 10 levels or so my Seviper learns some real moves!
The Qwilfish I’ve caught is interesting, it’s never a Pokémon I’ve considered training, so it could be interesting. The same goes for Exeggcute, but it’s very likely I’ll find something better than both in the near future and end up replacing them.
