This will be my final Heart Gold Random post! I’m retiring this playthrough.
I defeated Red on Mt. Silver, so that’s really the last thing I wanted to do. Also, I ended up catching 469 Pokémon, which is close enough to completed for me! Getting the remaining 24 would have taken way longer than I want to spend at this point.
My battle with Red, by the way, was a little surprising. Going in, it didn’t seem like my Pokémon were strong enough. At the time, they were low to mid 60 levels on average, while every member of Red’s team is at least level 80. So, expectations were not high, but my team pulled through, somehow!
After that, I did some of the events that are available after beating Red. Talked to Oak to get one of the Kanto starters1, talked to Steven Stone to get a Hoenn starter2, talked to Mr. Pokémon to get the Blue Orb so I could find Kyogre3 in the Embedded Tower.

Thanks for reading along with my progress here, it was a lot of fun! I plan on picking up another randomized Pokémon game to play through eventually. My thought is that it will be either Sapphire or Emerald, I’m looking forward to going back to the GBA generations, but didn’t want to go straight to Leaf Green or Fire Red since I just experienced Kanto in Heart Gold.
