The most exciting news this time is that I’m right under the 400 Pokémon caught mark.
I’ve been considering completing the Pokédex in this playthrough, only because it would definitely be doable. When I ran the Randomizer, I enabled Catch ‘em All Mode, which means I should be able to encounter every single Pokémon species in the game. Somewhere. Now, I also had the Randomizer generate a log of the changes made, a fact which I have been abusing slightly by looking up locations for certain Pokémon that I hadn’t seen anywhere yet.
All that said, some Pokémon, based on the log, seem only available in swarms, which is something that would be time consuming for me to hunt down since I believe I would have to wait a certain amount of time for the current swarm to change, and there would be guarantee that the new swarm is of a Pokémon I needed.
So, completing the Pokédex entirely might not happen, but I intend to get as close as possible to Catching ‘em All!
Other than that, the last thing I have to do is defeat Red on Mt. Silver. And he….is tough. I seem to remember never beating him when playing the original Pokémon Gold Version, since his Pokémon are just so highly levelled.
With the nifty fast-forward feature I am able to spam while emulating the game, I might be inclined to grind the 10 or so levels my Pokémon probably need before they’re ready to face him.
I guess we’ll see how things turn out in the coming days.
One thing I almost forgot, I beat the Elite Four a 2nd time now. I was using them to train, having a weaker Pokémon hold an Exp Share, and went in fully intending to defeat maybe 2 of the Elite Four. My team went all the way, much to my surprise!
The Golem you see there is the Exp Share holder. That’s another neat Randomizer feature, with the click of a button you make the trade-evolutions become level-based evolutions, in addition to making otherwise impossible evolutions possible. Very helpful!
